POLIN

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews won the European Museum of the Year award in 2016. This cultural institution aims to promote openness and tolerance and is located on the site of the wartime Warsaw Ghetto. It tells the 1000-year history of Polish Jews, through a chronology of chapters. When visitors reach 1939 they are asked to walk in their shoes increasing the poignancy of the site. My primary involvement was lead designer of the Holocaust gallery. Collaborating with historians and Kathy Jones in reviewing the evidence and considering how to present the narrative. The challenge was to devise a unique representation of this story during the period of German occupancy with Poland at the epicentre of the Holocaust.
